Default working on new electrolyte powder

working on new electrolyte powder. Of course I aim for the best on the planet. Here is an email I got from a manufacturer of electrolytes. He's got the best.

    Hi Alex,

If you are looking for a balanced electrolyte in powder form with the least amount of additional listing in the ingredients list, I would recommend that you go with the whole dried sea salt. This is an all natural, GRAS ingredient that provides sodium, potassium, magnesium, chloride and sulfate, plus trace and ultra trace amounts of every naturally occurring element on the face of the planet. You can choose weather or not you want to claim the naturally occurring sulfate and trace elements. The seas of the world naturally have a mineral balance and form, (ionic/ electrolyte) that is very similar to what is found in healthy blood plasma and lymphatic fluid. When most sea salts are made however, the method of processing used provides an almost pure sodium chloride crystal. Almost all sea salts on the market are 98% or more pure sodium chloride. Our whole dried sea salt provides much higher levels of the potassium and magnesium in the naturally occurring balance that you would find in liquid, whole sea water. You could list this ingredient on your label as, whole sea salt, or whole dried sea salt.

I am looking forward to this. One note though one electrolyte supplements is that people tend to way overemphasize salt intake. The best electrolyte supplement I have used is ..

With these I have done 7 hour bike rides in heat over 90 degrees (riding on black pavement) with absolutely not problems with cramps.

Agreed. Human sweat has quite a different composition in terms of electrolytes than human blood, and is much more variable in electrolyte content as well.

    From http://are.berkeley.edu/heat/Fluid.html :

Sweat sodium concentration averages approximately 40 mEq . L-1 (range = 10-100 mEq L-1) and varies depending on diet, sweating rate, hydration, and heat acclimation level. Heat-acclimated persons have relatively low sodium concentrations (greater than 50 percent reduction) in sweat.
In contrast, normal blood sodium is around 135-145 mEq/L.

Plenty of medical research about the physiology of sweating has been conducted, especially because of its obvious implications both in sports and the military.
