Put another notch in the ProteinFactory.com® belt of “first products introduced to the sports nutrition industry”. This is the first commercial protein released in the sports nutrition industry history that uses sunflower lecithin instead of soy lecithin. What does this mean? The taste and mouthfeel of this protein is remarkable. When mixed with just plain water and plain casein you can drink it. It tastes 80 to 85% like your drinking milk. You see soy lecithin is a nasty, nasty tasting product.

Key Benefits

  • 27 g Protein per serving
  • 6 g BCAA per serving
  • 6 g Glutamine per serving

In order for a powder to be soluble in a liquid it must be instantized. You won’t find instantized in the dictionary, it’s an industry term. But to us it means making a powder mix easily with a spoon so it quickly converts to a complete liquid and no lumps or clumps of powder are showing. Nobody likes a lumpy or clumpy protein drink. Thus you have companies that instantize protein powder. Many protein manufacturers only make the powder, and then they ship it out to be instantized. Instantizing is really an art form. ....some companies are better at it than others. If you have ever seen a badly instantized product vs. a good one you'll know what I’m talking about. Some of the best one's are the Ultra Amino 97 Whey, Biofresh, Soy XT, IPI, and PeptoPro.

Now up until now manufacturers had to use soy lecithin. Soy lecithin comes from soy oil. After the soybeans are pressed and the oil is extracted the sludge (sorry but that is truly what it is....) the sludge left over is made into the soy lecithin. It’s a disgusting looking product that requires a harsh chemical process to make. Other chemicals are added to kill off the putrid smell of the shit. Soy companies then decided this product could be used as an emulsifier (soy lecithin) and marketed it that way. Thus it found its way into our protein powders. Remember you really didn’t have instantized powders I think until the late 80's maybe even early 90's. (Hmmmm how convenient… isn’t that when the soy craze just started to be born). But hey it made whey protein powders much more enjoyable to drink. I would say most instantized powders contain between 0.5% and 1.5% of soy lecithin.

ProteinFactory.com® caught wind of this mid last year. Alex Rogers, President of ProteinFactory.com® found out that companies were using sunflower lecithin over in Europe. Why? Because soy protein is an allergen. A lot of people are allergic to soy lecithin, even in small amounts. It is now required that ALL products containing soy lecithin be listed on the label. Most nutrition company's now should have this on their label. "This product contains soy allergens" and "soy lecithin" should be listed in the ingredient deck. Hence in steps sunflower lecithin. It can be used in place of soy lecithin. But sunflower lecithin was not yet approved here in the U.S. Why? Take one guess. The soy company's of course!!! I guarantee those bastards were dropping notes to the Feds and other things trying to delay sunflower lecithin for human use as much as possible. The soy lecithin business, you can say it’s a multi BILLION dollar product. Well in January of this year the use of sunflower lecithin was approved. Although it does have its restrictions. It is not yet approved for use in infant formulas. Once approved the ProteinFactory.com® jumped on it of course and began our R and D. We bought the sunflower lecithin had it processed with a casein and the result, Heliogen Casein! Heliogen Casein is the world’s first instantized protein using sunflower oil instead of soybean oil. And once again, the ProteinFactory.com® is the first company to bring it to you!! Heliogen Casein will be the best tasting casein you will ever try. It mixes fairly easily and taste almost like real milk, amazing product.

I'd suggest not getting more than the minimum quantity to start with. I got this and the taste was horrid. Maybe they forgot to put in the Stevia I asked for but the only way I could take this is add three packs of Stevia, and that only made it tolerable. Also, unlike some of there other protein mixes, use the maximum amount of water (16 oz per scoop) because this stuff mixes like sludge.

Mixes well and tastes good at a great price. Excellent for MRPs or Night shakes.

Excellent price and pretty decent tasting, however it does possess a slightly "skunky" smell and like most other casein's, clumps when mixing.

If I ever use casein's in the future, I will make PF's Aussie casein my first choice, and then perhaps experiment next with their Membrane Micellar Casein to compare it to the Heliogen.

Just received the shipment. Natural vanilla flavor tastes good with minimal aftertaste. Seems to thicken as it stands for a couple of minutes. Clumps a bit when mixing, but a few extra stirs took care of it, maybe that was due to using cold water out of the fridge.

Nice clean no smell with my order of plain, got some to add to my whey powder when I'm on the road without milk to mix it with for some slower protein at about 20% to thicken a little too. Mixes ok for me.
