How Does NUGENIX Really Rate Up Against Other Testosterone Boosters?

How Does NUGENIX Really Rate Up Against Other Testosterone Boosters?

NUGENIX is becoming the most popular Testosterone Boosting supplement on the market. Does it really do what it claims?  Or is it a bunch of marketing hype?  Well, the answer is yes, and no, to both questions.

If you want to believe NUGENIX reviews, it certainly seems so.  (But who knows who really writes those). At any rate, NUGENIX will increase testosterone levels — to a degree, as will many other similar (and less expensive) products. What is more important to know is that there are products that are far more effective in regard to both the active ingredients and the quality of the extracts used to induce the desired effects. And what is most important to a higher testosterone level is the amount that is bio-available. In other words, not all testosterone is “useable.” Much of it is inert.  What actually IS active is called FREE testosterone — meaning it is unbound and active and therefore will provide the desired result.  So what really matters in regard to the effectiveness of a testosterone booster is which one increases FREE testosterone effectively. And in that case, NUGENIX falls a little short.  Of all products tested, the one that showed the highest increase in elevating FREE testosterone is one called UNLEASHED. But before we get to a head to head comparison, let’s take a look at exactly what testosterone does, why it’s important, and why all men can benefit from having it at optimum levels.

Testosterone may fight depression.

If you’ve been battling the drag of depression, it may be because of low testosterone levels. Research shows  that men suffering from depression typically have deficient testosterone levels. While scientists aren’t certain whether it’s low testosterone that causes depression or if depression causes low T levels,  most men suffering from depression report improvement in mood and other factors of depression after undergoing  HRT. (Hormone Replacement Therapy)

Testosterone decreases body fat.

Testosterone plays an important role in regulating insulin, glucose, and fat metabolism. When T levels are low, the ability of the body to regulate these roles decreases. To add insult to injury, increased fat leads to higher estrogen levels.  The higher the estrogen level, the more of the available testosterone you have “aromatizes”  (converts to estrogen, which in turn increases fat and water retention. it’s a vicious cycle of the worst kind.

Testosterone Increases Muscle Mass

This one is obvious. It’s the reason steroids work so well at accelerating muscle growth. And along with increased muscle comes increased strength, which in turn allows you to life more weight and get stronger and more muscular.   Are you starting to see why a high testosterone level is so beneficial?

Testosterone may strengthen your heart.

The research is still on-going, but many doctors find the evidence compelling that optimal testosterone levels can help prevent cardiovascular disease. men with low testosterone are at greater risk of having a heart attack. (Of course if levels are too high the benefits are reversed and risk is increased but that would take levels over 2000 ngs and that would be impossible without steroids. To be clear, it’s  uncertain if it’s the testosterone hormone itself that strengthens your cardiovascular system, or rather the myriad of health benefits that come from an optimal testosterone level.

Testosterone strengthens bones.

You may have thought of osteoporosis as a health problem that only women have to worry about, but men can suffer from this bone-weakening disease too. And low testosterone levels may be to blame. It increases bone density by stimulating bone mineralization as well as decreases bone resorption. Elderly men suffering from osteoporosis typically have sub-optimal testosterone levels. If you want to enjoy strong, healthy bones well into old age, take steps to improve your testosterone levels now.

Testosterone increases libido and improves erections. Testosterone is a sex hormone, so it’s not surprising that if you’ve noticed a sharp decrease in your interest in sex,  it may be due to low testosterone. Testosterone is necessary for sex drive and erectile strength, which is why both diminish as we age and T levels are lower.  Increasing testosterone levels can send a man’s sex drive  into overdrive!

Testosterone may decrease your chances of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Research studies linked low testosterone levels to an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease.  In a 2010 study by the University of Hong Kong, researchers studied 153 Chinese men between the ages of 45 and 65.  Of those men, 47 had mild cognitive impairment — or problems with clear thinking and memory loss. Within a year, 10 men who were part of the cognitively-impaired group developed probable Alzheimer’s disease. These men also had low testosterone in their body tissues.

Researchers at the University of Southern California have reported that increasing testosterone levels in mice with Alzheimer’s actually slows the progression of the disease. This observation has led scientists to hypothesize that maintaining optimal T levels into old age may help prevent Alzheimer’s and actually improve cognitive ability in humans.

Add to the equation that testosterone increases aggression, though not in a negative hostile manner, but in a healthy  way.  Men with high testosterone seem to be more ambitious, more outgoing and more socially active.  Testosterone increases ones sense of “well being” which leads to more focus, more desire and more success.

Myths about Testosterone

You’ve heard it all before — Testosterone makes men angry and anti social and

leads to “roid rage. All untrue.  In fact, it’s been shown that violent criminals tend to have LOW testosterone levels.  Of course, if you’re a raging jerk and you do steroids at twenty times the recommended dosage and get an artificially heightened sense of power, sure, then you may be likely to be a, well…a jerk on steroids. That has NOTHING to do with having a healthy testosterone level.

There’s also the myth about Prostate cancer. Also not true. Now that HRT has become common , it’s becoming evident that the PSA levels of men on testosterone have no higher a level than men with low T.  It’s simply a non factor.

Since the 1940s, it was commonly believed in the medical field that high testosterone levels were the cause of prostate cancer in men. Doctors reached this conclusion because two scientists in 1941 noticed that prostate cancer regressed in a patient after they castrated him and his T levels subsequently declined. This conclusion was based on the results from a single patient!

More recent studies have found no link between high testosterone levels and increasing your chances of developing prostate cancer.

Now remember when we spoke about FREE testosterone?  For both men and women, free testosterone is one of the most important measures of hormonal health. The medical community has come up with some benchmarks to compare your levels. H ere is what most would consider “normal” free testosterone levels.

Normal Free Testosterone Levels for Men For men it’s 9 – 30 ng/dl  And what determines this is something called Sex Hormone Binging Globulin — or SHBG. That is what affects your body’s normal Free Testosterone levels

SHBG has a perfectly descriptive name. It binds to your sex hormones, and, along with albumin, renders them effectively inert.Your hormones can no longer act in your tissues the way they need to. And if you have too much SHBG in your body, even if your total testosterone is normal (or even high!), you may effectively have low testosterone because your normal free testosterone levels are too low.

So it makes sense that a product that lowers SHBG is the best way to go for increasing FREE Testosterone.  NUGENIX has no ingredients that do that.  We found two other products that contain one. UNLEASHED has THREE and the most powerful of all that is no contained in any other product —  Avenacosides A & B.

We’ll get a bit into that in a minute. In the meantime, here are the ingredients in NUGENIX.  Take a look and see for yourself what you’re paying for.

Nugenix ingredient #1

D-Aspartic acid

3000.00 mg

D-aspartic acid was found to have potential testosterone boosting properties back in  2003 based on animal studies. This led many a supplement company to tout it as a legitimate anabolic /androgenic compaound. Many companies sold it or put it in a supplement formula. The result …nothing.  Most have abandoned its use. Why it didn’t pan out in uncertain. D-Asparic Acid (Also known as D-AA)   was though to be used as a testosterone booster for infertile men, and by athletes as a temporary booster. Unfortunately, elevated testosterone levels only lasted a few hours at best in healthy men, with testosterone returning to normal afterward. This can be good as a pre workout boost but it won’t make a huge difference in muscle growth, libido or overall sexual performance.

The D-AA in Nugenix works in the central brain region to cause a release of hormones, such as luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, and growth hormone. Further research is needed on D-AA, as most studies attempt to assess D-AA’s role in the body under normal conditions, and not in the frame of supplementation. It also does not come with out side effects, including headaches and diarrhea when used in effective dosages.

Similarly, mood swings are also attributed to D-aspartic acid use. D-aspartic acid converts into N-Methyl-D-aspartic acid or N-Methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA)which  is an amino acid derivative that acts as a specific agonist at the NMDA receptor mimicking the action of glutamate, the neurotransmitter which normally acts at that receptor.which may increase homocysteine levels. As homocysteine levels rise, NMDA receptors become more active, which leads to mood swings and depression. Homocysteine is also a big contributor to heart disease.

Nugenix Ingredient #2

Fenugreek Extract (seed)(50% saponins)

This one is the biggest scam in supplement hype since back in the 1990’s where a single study showed that the mineral BORON increased testosterone levels. In reality, ONE study showed that the T level of a post menopausal women went up when using Boron. Well, that didn’t stop bogus supplement companies from touting is a a T booster. The same goes for Fengreek. ONE study showed a slight increase in Testosterone and everybody jumped on the bandwagon.  But here’s what’s especially ironic. Fenugreek seed has been used to increase milk production since biblical times. The herb contains phytoestrogens, which are plant chemicals similar to the female sex hormone estrogen. It’s also been shown to increase proaction — the enzyme necessary to keep the breast filled with milk. Another key compound in Fenugreek is  diosgenin which has also been shown experimentally to increase milk flow. So if you want “man-boobs” Fenugreek is the thing to use!  AND, as if that weren’t bad enough. Prolactin decreases libido.  In fact Monks used to be given Fenugreek to inhibit sexual desire. Avoid Fenugreek at all costs!

Nugenix Ingredient #3

Epimedium sagittatum

Aslo known as “horny Giat Weed” this herb was thought to be a libido enhancer due to its name. It is not. It also has zero effect on testosterone.

Stinging nettle (root)

This herb has some positive benefits. formally evaluated the efficacy of nettle root extract and found the antiphlogistic and antiproliferative effects of the stinging nettle extract to provide a safe therapeutic option for enlarged prostate. [7]

Research has found significant activity when evaluating the effect of nettle root extract on enlarged prostate. [ Furthermore, the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at Philipps-Universität indicated research suggests nettle root extract to hold compounds that would be of interest for those researching prostate health.

Nugenix ingredient #4

Maca (root)

Another herb that has a reputation as an  aphrodisiac yet no one seems to experience that effect.  It’s been all but dismissed yet it appears the people at GNC haven’t gotten the memo.

Nugenix ingredient #5

Mucuna pruriens Extract

This herb can be useful in that it lowers prolactin. Since Fenugreek increases it, they essentially cancel each other out.

Eurycoma longifolia Extract (root)

This is an herb that has been shown to increase total testosterone, albeit for only a hour or two. After that, levels drop back to baseline.

Boron (as boron citrate)

This has already been mentioned. It seems to show that the marketers of NUGENIX really don;t know what they’re doing, they just know what has a reputation as being a testosterone booster. (As misguided as it may be).

Now let’s take a look at the ingredients in what we feel is a far superior product.  UNLEASHED.

First off, an independent study out to question the claims of supplement products  had this to say about UNLEASHED.

“As with all of for our reviews, we arranged for 10 volunteers to use Unleashed but 28 days.

We ensured that none of the volunteers had previously used a testosterone boosting supplement prior to this trial.  Our in-house medical professional performed two blood tests to measure any increases in testosterone levels that may have occurred during this period.

The first blood test was carried out just before the commencement of this trial, and the second blood test was performed on the 28th day.  This allowed Unleashed enough time to take effect.

On average, the 10 volunteers experienced an increase in their testosterone levels by 19.7%.  “

(From the site Low Testsoterone Cure .com)

19.7 %   And that’s done by a group that found many T boosting supplements to do absolutley nothing at all.

Here are the Ingredients in UNLEASHED

◦ Servings Per Container 30

◦ Avena Sativa (with at least 7% Avenacosides A&B) 500 mgs

◦ Muara Puama: 12:1 active extract 500mgs

◦ Trimethyglycine 1000mgs

◦ Cndium Morrieri 50mgs

◦ Stinging Nettle Root: 100 mgs

◦ Ashwagandha: Standardized to 1.5%Withanolides 500 mgs

All of these ingredients are proven to help with libido, energy, improved erectile function and increased testosterone production. But it’s the Avenacosides that really make the difference.

Nothing has been shown to inhibit SHBG better than Avenacosides.  Remember, SHBG is that nasty hormone that stops testosterone from being active in the bloodstream. And in an independent double blind /placebo blood tests taken before and after the use of UNLEASHED, there was an average of 27% higher FREE testosterone among the subjects who used UNLEASHED.  Putting almost all of them at the upper range of FREE T levels.  (The placebo group , not surprisingly showed no difference).  So even those who were slightly depressed, then had a FREE T level of a healthy 30 year old!

And the reviews are 95% favorable.  Reports of harder muscles, greater gains and even a revised sex life.  “Morning wood” that had been gone for years has also been reported to suddenly return!

And UNLEASHED is half the price of NUGENIX!

So it’s really no contest.  NUGENIX is okay. Not bad. Not great.  You might be able to find a few other products approximately as good for a little lower cost. But, by far, the most effective testosterone boosting natural supplement is UNLEASHED.  Try just one bottle  and experience it for yourself.  If all the benefits from more testosterone is what you’re looking for, you won’t be disappointed.

Unleashed also helps you use more of your natural testosterone.  Nugenix free testosterone gains do not really happen.
