Common Weight Loss Questions Finally De-Bunked, Read Especially If You’re a Newbie

General questions I get from customers about weight loss.

Question:

I have the appetite the size of a horse!  How can I suppress my appetite?

Answer:

The best way is to increase your protein intake.  Especially protein from dairy.  You can drink milk or have something like a whey protein isolate protein shake.  You can buy dietary supplements that supposedly help you not be hungry by suppressing your appetite, but honestly eating healthy is the way to go.

 

Question:

How do you get rid of cellulite?

Try to go into detail please..what food do I cut down on and what exercises would be best?

Answer:
Cellulite is fat.  It’s as simple as that and really weight loss is not a detailed subject.  The weight loss industry complicates it to confuse you to think you need to eat this, do that, and don’t eat that.  It’s all non-sense.  Here it is in a nut shell:  EAT HEALTHY and EXERCISE WITH INTENSITY.  If you eat junk food and sugar and processed foods you’re going to gain weight.  If you don’t exercise you’re going to gain weight.  It’s as simple as that.  Here is what I tell people.  If it looks like it was made in a factory, don’t eat it.  Then for exercise, find something that you like and do it at least every other day.  Sports, dancing, lifting weights.  The only thing I don’t recommend is the dreaded cardio machines, like the treadmill, stationary bikes, and all those other zombielike machines.  They suck!

 

Question:

Here is what I eat… Do I need to add anything or take away anything?  I’m trying to be really tight and toned.

This is what I eat for breakfast: 1/2 a cup of oats, a banana, and almond milk. Then my in between food is  apples, and almonds For lunch is Greek yogurt and a veggie burger on a sandwich thin, and dinner is a salad with cottage cheese.

I’m going to assume you are also exercising because your diet is really good.  I would just make sure that you have some protein pre and post workout with some carbs.  Maybe get yourself some chocolate milk or some whey protein isolate powder.  I would also add some flax oil to your diet.  I recommend flax oil from Barleans or Proteinfactory.com

 

Question.

If I run 5 minutes/ 6 times per day can I lose fat?  I have baby fat and I am trying to lose it, please help.

Answer

Maybe.  Everyone is different when it comes to what will make them lose weight.  But it is highly likely that if you reduce your calories you will lose weight.  The exercising that you described above is fine if it works.  But if it doesn’t than obviously you need to exercise more.  It is a matter of using more calories than you consume per weekly basis.  Therefore, eat less and exercise more.  Losing weight is not a matter of doing this equals that.

 

Question:

Is it necessary to do several exercises for the same muscles?

Do I have to do lots of exercises for the same muscle?  I get easily bored when I am at the gym.  For example my quads.  Do I have to do squats, hack squats, lunges, leg raises and calves?

Answer:

No, definitely not.  You should constantly change your routine.  For example, quads you mentioned.  If you workout with intensity then you should only be able to perform maybe 10 sets of squats.  If you can workout for more time and do more sets, then obviously you are not training with intensity and are just going through the motions.  Push yourself and your workouts should only be about 30 to 45 minutes tops.

Question:

This might sound strange, but how do I stop getting aroused in the gym?  Pretty women walk around in sports bras and sweating and grunting!

Answer:

I would go to a gym where there aren’t those types of women.  Or you should really focus on your training and not stare at the girls.  LOL

Question:

I need help to get a six pack.  I just began my diet.  I workout like 4 times a week and play sports like everyday.  I eat protein shakes for breakfast and lots of egg whites and such.  Tuna and salad for dinner and my mom makes me ground turkey burgers for late snack.

Answer:

Wow you don’t need any help.  Your diet is great and you are exercising like crazy.  That is the recipe my friend.  It will start showing once your body fat starts to get to the level low enough to expose your abs.  Of course genetics will play a major role in how defined your abs are.  Good Luck and make sure you have protein and carbs pre and post workouts.

Question: 

Will my boobs get smaller if I say lose like 10 to 20lbs?  I’m about 140lbs but my friends say I don’t look it.  I’m a D cup with a nice figure.  I just want to lose belly fat.  Will my boobs shrink?  What machines should I use in the gym?

Answer:  You cannot spot fat reduce.  Where you lose weight is all genetics.  But from experience I can tell you chances are you will lose weight in your boobs.  Maybe you’ll get lucky and the fat will come off your belly and thighs, but chances are it will be evenly reduced from your body.  I NEVER recommend machines in the gym.  If you want the most out of your workouts use barbells and dumbbells.  These are much more effective.  Machines in my opinion are pretty much a waste of time.  They require one thought, PUSH!  Free weights require concentration, balance, intensity, and focus.

Question

I am 5 foot 8 inches tall and weight 135lbs.  On a scale of 1 to 10 how over weight am I?  Ten is being really fat.

Answer:

That question is hard to answer because maybe you have a lot of muscle on you.  I would think you are not overweight at all.  You might look really good.  Don’t rely on the scale to judge how you look.  Simply look in the mirror in a bathing suit and take it from there.

Question:

If I make a shake with just peanut butter, banana, and milk will it help me lose weight?

Answer:

Yes and no.  Losing weight is just a matter of reducing your calories.  So if this “shake” equates to your lowering of your calories throughout the day then yes.  But if it adds to your calories then no.   Certain foods just don’t simply burn fat.

Question:

When is the best time to exercise?  I’ve lost like 50lbs already and now the prom is coming up and I want to lose some more weight.  So is it better to workout in the morning or at night right before I head to bed.

Answer:  Well, a lot of so-called experts say workout in the morning because it kick starts your metabolism. I say poo to that.  You should eat the most amount of food in the morning and then slowly taper off at night.  Thus, night time would be the best time to exercise to burn calories consumed during the day.  Plus exercising right before bedtime jacks up the testosterone levels in the body so hopefully you’ll be recovered when you wake up.
