Weight Gainers: How to Use Them & Not Get Fat

If you do not want to get FAT by using a weight gainers with maltodextrin, instead you want to use mass gainers without maltodextrin.   You do not want to use brands that have maltodextrin and dextrose in them.

Maltodextrin and dextrose are carb powders most of the time made from corn.  These corn products are cheap and inexpensive to buy.  They add calories to the supplement, but at the same time have a dramatic effect on your insulin in your body.  Maltodextrin and dextrose will rapidly INCREASE insulin levels in your body.  When this happens you get FAT, plain and simple, and no question about it.  If you keep chugging down maltodextrin and dextrose you will get fat.  Now I know you might be saying to yourself, “Well yea, I’m a skinny dude, what does it matter!”.  Well it does matter because you are not going to put on muscle, youre going to put on fat.  That is exactly what you dont want as that will increase your estrogen and even make you look even worse.

Therefore stay away from weight gainers that have maltodextrin and dextrose.  I went over to Bodybuilding.com and found their “TOP” weight gainers.  Needless to say I did not find any mass gainers without maltodextrin.  The first weight gainer was Optimum Nutrition Pro Gain.  Take a look at the ingredients:

Ingredients:
Maltodextrin, Protein Blend (Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Concentrate, Calcium Caseinate, Egg Albumin, Hydrolyzed Whey Peptides, Glutamine Peptides), Lipid Blend (Medium Chain Triglycerides, High Oleic Sunflower Oil), Partially Hydrogenated Guar Gum, Natural And Artificial Flavors, Lecithin, Vitamin/Mineral Blend

As you can see, maltodextrin is the first ingredient.  And when you look at the nutrition facts you’ll see a serving size of 85 grams of carbs.  Now I dont know how many of those grams are from maltodextrin but most likely its alot.

I rate this weight gainer on a scale of 1 to 10.  Ten being a awesome and 1 being krappy.  I give it a 4.  The serving size is way to big.  Nobody would be able to chug down over 185 grams of powder.  You’ll feel like shit and you’ll probably poop your pants.  This is just way to much powder, close to 1/2 pound.

Next take a look at another best seller.  This is from Dymatize.

Dymatize Complex Carbohydrate Blend (Made Up Of The Highest Quality Corn Dextrins Available From Maltodextrin Providing Ultra High Levels Of 100% Pure Long Chain Glucose Polymers), Dymatize Sustained Release Protein Blend (Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Concentrate, Calcium Caseinate, Egg Albumin, Milk Protein Concentrate), Fructose, Quic Creamer: (Soybean Oil+, Corn Syrup Solids, Sodium Caseinate, Mono- And Diglycerides, Dipotassium Phosphate, Sodium Silico Aluminate), Natural And Artificial Flavors, Dymatize Super Mass Gainer Vitamin And Mineral Blend

No surprise here, they used maltodextrin as the first ingredient but they tried to make it sound all fancy and call it, “highest quality corn dextrins available”.  LMFAO!.  Look down the line and you’ll even see fructose, can you say I’m going to fart my ass off.  On a scale of 1 to 10. I give this one a 3.  The serving size is literally over 1/2 pound.  That is re God Damn diculous!  Nobody is drinking that without shitting themselves.

Next is Muscletech weight gainer called Mass-Tech.

MULTI-PHASE CARB COMPLEX (Glucose Polymers, Isomaltulose, Oat Bran, Amaranth, Quinoa, Buckwheat, Millet, Chia), MULTI-PHASE PROTEIN SYSTEM (Whey Protein Concentrate, Calcium Caseinate, Egg Albumin, Whey Protein Isolate, Hydrolyzed Whey Protein Isolate), OMEGA-RICH BLEND ([Sunflower Oil, Corn Syrup Solids, Sodium Caseinate, Mono- & Diglycerides, Dipotassium Phosphate, Tricalcium Phosphate, Soy Lecithin, Tocopherols (As Preservative)], Medium Chain Triglycerides), Natural And Artificial Flavors, Cellulose Gum, Soy Lecithin, Acesulfame-Potassium, Salt, Sucralose, L-Glutamine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine.
Contains Milk, Wheat And Soy Ingredients. Processed In A Facility That Also Processes Peanut Ingredients.

Seems like they dont use maltodextrin, instead they use DEXTROSE, but they call it glucose polymers, so the average person has no idea what this shit is.  If they would have just left this out it would have been a decent product.

Mass-Tech® Co-Factors

Creatine Monohydrate 10g †

L-Leucine (As L-Leucine, Whey Protein Concentrate And Isolate) 5g †

L-Alanine (As L-Alanine, Whey Protein Concentrate And Isolate) 3g †

L-Glycine (As Glycine, Whey Protein Concentrate And Isolate) 3g †

Unfortunately it also contains GLYCINE, a notorious protein spiking ingredient, there it completely fails my test.  I give this product a 1.  Once you use a protein spiking ingredient, your nothing but a vermon in my book.

What Are the Best Mass Gainers Without Maltodextrin?

So what should you do if you want to buy a weight gainer?   Buy mass gainers without maltodextrin of course.   Good Luck with that one, because those are very difficult to find.  Therefore instead buy a protein powder and a carb powder separately.  A good quality whey protein and a good quality carb powder.  One of the best carbs is our Oatmuscle.  Another great carbohydrate powder is Mod6 carb.  Both of these carbs are in the mid to low glycemic range.  Which means they wont’ spike your insulin and increase your body fat.  Remember no maltodextrin or dextrose.  .  Then add it to your protein powder.

Here is a great recipe to use

1/3 to 1/2 cup of Oatmuscle or Mod6

1/3 cup of Native Whey Protein

Liquid of choice.  I personally like Oatmilk, or almond milk.  But whole milk is fine.  Usually 16 oz at least

2-3 tbs of raw honey.

Fruit of choice.  My favorite are bananas and blueberries.

2-3 tables of flax oil ( I do not sell but get Barleans)

The second option is what I like to call the “Poor Man’s Mass Gainer”

16 to 32 oz of chocolate milk

1/3 cup of Muscle Shake

2 bananas

1 tsp of Creapure.

Mass & Bulking Stack
